[Most cult watchers likely never heard of this group or leader, but I post this as an example of countless smaller groups operating their influence-games online]
Guru types labeled as cult leaders commonly react by labeling critics and ex-members as psychopathic or mentally ill if not liars or criminals. For example, L Ron Hubbard glibly pointed the diagnostic finger at anyone he did not like, calling them Suppressive Persons or Fair Game. An old and now deceased friend of mine, Dr. Louis Jolyn West, once “diagnosed” Hubbard as having Anti-social Personality Disorder after decades of researching Hubbard’s personal behavior, social interactions and writings. West was qualified to make such an observation and he gave the evidence in a long paper. West was the head of UCLA’s Neuro-Psychiatric Institute. Hubbard of course founded the Church of Scientology that continues to vilify psychiatrists as the most evil force in the universe, as a class of pathological doctors. Dr West was a prime target of Hubbard's devotees. So was I, by many other cults as well in my career.

Goes with the territory, as they say....(btw, if you bother to read the frenzy of posts about me on the cassiopaea forum, bear in mind this reaction is typical after a family intervention fails to convince a cult member to reflect and defect. The intervention that sparked this fox in a henhouse cult crisis was an open meeting during one day wherein the cult member was told from the start that I would leave if he asked me to and that he could end the session and leave at any time. Several family witnesses were present. We talked and exchanged ideas without rancor for a full day, but, once the member revealed to the leader who I was, the ire in a cult leader's mind splattered into conspiracy mode. The cult member refused to meet with me again. My prior reputation as a deprogrammer that did work on some alleged kidnap cases prior to 1992 is what is created the panic among Jadczyk's core followers. Cult leaders will manufacture or fan a crisis to insert phobias in devotees--the better to manipulate them for personal gain.
A recent film, The Master starring Philp Seymour Hoffman, does a credible job with brilliant acting to recreate a simile of L. Ron Hubbard’s early pseudo-therapy cult of Dianetics prior to his forming his church of Scientology in the 1950s. Which brings me to my point: Cult leaders tend to be self-proclaimed experts about pathology in others as well as about cults and cult leaders. Once the malignant cult label sticks to a new movement, the leader finds ways to convince their followers that “I am not a cult leader” because….and they use a crude laundry list of cult traits, then glibly dismiss them one by one.
Currently, in the new tech age of Internet driven cults like that of Free Domain Radio headed by self-proclaimed “philosopher” and amateur therapist Stefan Molyneux based in Canada, we have a prime example. Molyneux quickly caught the cult leader label many years ago when parents and ex-members noted his policy of suggesting that devoted followers DeFOO or totally defect from their Family Of Origin deemed a malignant influence by Molyneux. Molyneux responded quickly in 2009 in his pseudo-erudite style using a simplistic laundry list of cult traits that he summarily dismissed, thus acting as his own priest, he absolved himself of any sin. An educational film about malignant cult formation appeared in Canada called Captive Minds: Hypnosis and Beyond (1983). One of the subjects was Dick Sutphen who allowed the crew to film him in action while he hypnotized whole groups in one of his repetitive seminars. He may have been surprised that his seminar was used as an example of undue influence in the film. Sutphen quickly put out a reasonably credible audio-tape for his followers about how mind control works, warning them about it as a form of damage control. The kicker was that he had been using these subtle and not so subtle hypnotic techniques to manipulate paying clients at his mass therapy seminars that took people back to “past lives” under trance induced by Sutphen with help from a loud recording of heart beat. The purpose was Freudian in that each participant was to go back to a specific trauma in a past life at a particular age and revisit or remember it, and then follow the suggestion to “let it go.” My ex-wife and her then husband took a Sutphen seminar—they decided never to take another one—it felt like a con to them.
Swami Muktananda who brought SYDA or Siddha Yoga to the West in the early 1970s warned his flock to be wary of false gurus. He was publicly outed as a malignant, self-centered, sexually abusive guru by 1982 when many articles appeared describing him as such. Of course, former members had been complaining all along, but few outsiders will believe the ranting of former members unless the rant is a disciplined and well-researched effort. Former members of malignant cults can sound crazy and are often viewed as “naïve and stupid” for ever following “such a kook.” That is why so many merely slink or slouch away from the bad cult never to speak about it in public: Cult membership looks bad on your curriculum vitae.
Then there was my old cult leader, Elizabeth Clare Prophet (1939-2007) who in Gnostic style said enlightened people (the Gnostic pneumatics) have hearts with three-fold flames (eg: love, wisdom, power) but the robot creation has only two-fold flames (power, wisdom). President Jimmy Carter was an example of a robot creation. The worst among “us” were the black magicians, the sociopaths that ran the “Capitalist Communist Conspiracy” and craved power over others alone throughout the universe. Prophet implemented decrees or mantras that she called The Power of the Spoken Word or “the most powerful force in the universe” to combat evil and black magicians, to “bind them” much like evangelical preachers bind devils. Belonging to Prophet’s cult, then called Church Universal and Triumphant back in 1979, was like living as a sorcerer inside a Harry Potter novel or wandering through Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. I could Smash Blast Annihilate and Consume anything and anyone her heart desired! After I defected in 1980 and became a harsh critic, my name was included by her among those to be blue-rayed or smashed and blasted. Imagine that.
Enter Laura Knight Jadczyk, now (2013) in her sixties, a self-styled researcher of the paranormal and occult operations throughout world history whose one claim to fame is “proper” use of the Ouija Board to commune with star system creatures that are our future selves, or Cassiopaeans.

She and her cult following call these hyper-reality entities the “Cs”. One of LKJ’s many website ventures is cassiopaea.org. Another is http://paleochristianity.org/ or a new attempt at neo-Gnostic religion called Fellowship of the Cosmic Mind. You can join for a mere $10 to $20—what it will cost you after that you must risk at your peril. Her 2005 self-published book, A Secret History of the World and How to Get Out Alive purports to unveil the hidden knowledge and arouse the spark within that you too can ascend like Jesus and others did:
“It is only by achieving this state of objectivity, true unconditional love that SEES and KNOWS and yet LOVES, can the Seeker gain access to the Ancient Secret Technology which includes mastery of Space and Time and Matter: The Philosopher's Stone: Ascension. The Alchemical Androgyne: I have become One: Creator of worlds.” (p 696)
That mouthful of a quote above smells suspiciously like a a rip-off of Theosophy and a blend of Hubbard's Scientology and Prophet's Church Universal and Triumphant or the Ballard's “I AM” Activity. Hubbard taught that his techniques would conquer MEST (matter energy space time) and bring one to the OT (Operating Thetan, an immortal) or pure monadic level—ascension. The I AM and CUT teach techniques for gaining ascension while in the body or after death.
Laura has a habit, like Molyneux and so many cult leaders, of self-referencing to exalt her status in her if you don’t believe, just ask me style. The glaring narcissistic red flag in her case is when she channels her future self with a Ouija board—I am told by eye witnesses that Laura and a follower who might qualify as co-channeler can zoom the planchette around the witch board like an evangelical tent preacher tap dances through Bible verses.
LKJ is prolific if nothing else. As an example, read her Secret History of the World, a self-published mishmash of occult legends, history, religious ideas, and social analysis arguing for her notion of a “paleochristianity” or primal Gnosticism (think Perennial Philosophy) as the true religion that has been under assault by everything from popes to other-dimensional reptilian aliens among us. (If you don’t believe her, just ask her). The Secret History is in the genre of Blavatsky’s 1890 Secret Doctrine and the 1950ish Book of Urantia compiled by fringe 7th Day Adventists. Intuitive or channeled information is the glue that gives these texts any meaning at all despite loads of referenced material and pop-scientific supports.
One has to accept the premise that the medium, prophet, seer, or guru IS tapping hidden entities and domains with extrasensory powers for the system of claims to work. A prime example of this type of seer was Rudolf Steiner (died 1925), the founder of Anthroposophy, who used the term supersensible to describe these beings and worlds that he claimed to tap for information and guidance. If one does not believe (remain entranced with) the notion that Steiner had an uncanny connection to sacred dimensions, then Steiner’s voluminous writings become the psychobabble of a genius with a form of schizophrenia—sacred fact collapses into naïve fiction.
Another example was Carlos Castaneda, who by the way is endorsed as somehow authentic by Laura Knight Jadczyk.
“We [Jadczyk & devotees] find it to be quite extraordinary that the Cassiopaean Material is so closely aligned with the teachings of the great Sufi master, Ibn Al-’Arabi, with the Fourth Way Teachings of Gurdjieff, Castaneda [my bold], with the Esoteric Christianity of Boris Mouravieff, and even ancient Altaic Shamanism. In this sense, the Cassiopaean Experiment is truly a Fourth Way work.”

Castaneda, of course, is a prime example of sacred fact unmasked as naïve fiction—he along with his inner circle or cult was one of the most successful hoaxers in the 20th century. The shaman-sorcerer hero in Castaneda novels, don Juan Matus, never existed in any form save in the author’s imagination. Some might argue that Castaneda was indeed a hoaxer yet he revealed valuable “truths” that he could not reveal directly, that he had to work as a trickster to help human evolution, that he like Gurdjieff and others, are secret emissaries of the divine light or the brilliant void, that the techniques and meditations revealed to inner core devotees only are the real means of achieving the states described in the novels.

In February 2006, a skeleton found in Death Valley, Calif., was identified through DNA analysis as Partin’s."

In our time, especially since the 19th Century, self-proclaimed seers exhibit a keen interest if not a magnetic obsession to the delicious sexy mix of Shamanism, Tantra, Alchemy, Gnosticism, Mysticism, and the occult powers of observation, healing, and transformation. If these seekers open a book about Islam, they immediately drift to the Sufi orders. If they turn to Chinese philosophy, the attraction is Taoism and Buddhism but much less Confucius or Mencius. If Judaism, then Kabbala; if aboriginal spirituality, then Shamanism; if Christianity, then mysticism or Gnosticism; if science, then quantum physics and cosmic origins like the Big bang; if Hinduism, then Tantra yoga; if the brain, then the right brain; if the cosmos, then astrology. The edges of reality are the appeal with a self congratulating attitude as being on the cutting edge. At the same time, this type of seeker adopts the narcissistic center of the God within, finding Source through an often overrated personal spiritual experience, or through the depth psychology of a Carl Jung or a Wilhelm Reich or in the transpersonal non-dual musings of a Ken Wilber.
The key to success with maverick New Age cults lies in the facile putdown of perceived competition from anything in power called Orthodox, Patriarchal, Establishment, Corporate or Catholic in medicine, governance, and religion.
John Lamb Lash, an old acquaintance from my days in Santa Fe, NM during the 80s and early 90s, finished and published his first book, The Seeker’s Manual, when I knew him. His website http://www.metahistory.org/ indicates his mission in life as a neo-Gnostic educator. Similar to LKJ, Lash unveils his take on a secret history or occult stream that influences world affairs. Lash admires Rudolf Steiner although he has worked to develop his own voice outside of Anthroposophy. Lash also fancies his role as the successor of Mircea Eliade (died 1986), the notable historian of religion and myth with inclination to mysticism in his personal life. Lash was keen to warn of misuses of the Gnostic impulse by cult leaders—he named JZ Knight of the Ramtha cult as an example.
Now, I may not agree with Lash’s neo-Gnostic mission and rebellion against all things patriarchal but no one has called me to intervene to free someone from his influence.

I knew one "zen" teacher that wrote a small book about his "psychopathic" cult leader Joya, and listed the traits of a psychopath. Later, I found that he used those same psychopathic tactics on his disciple that Joya used on him!]
In other words, I am not against Gnosticism as such—in fact, I can appreciate how gnosis (small g) operates in the mystical aspect of any tradition. Like Jadczyk, Lash relies on Grail legends and other motivating unorthodox myths to unveil the truth hidden by the Archon controlled Church for the seeker. (The Archons are the fallen or jealous gods in Gnosticism that seek to deceive, control and “eat” mankind). Unlike Jadczyk, Lash has managed to avoid promoting and organizing a cult or religion devoted to his ideas. When I knew him, Lash’s primary tool for tapping occult revelation for clients was a form of astrology he developed called Terrastrology which was to him what the Ouija Board is to Knight-Jadczyk—mimicking Prometheus, a way to bring the fires of heaven down to earthlings. Lash is a more disciplined researcher and writer unlike Laura Knight Jadczyk who appears to fall in love with everything that pours out of her mind or mouth—her own image—clearly clueless about how to use Ockham’s Razor for editing her Secret History of the World, for example. I call this the Ayn Rand Syndrome—Rand refused to edit her pathetically rambling novel, Atlas Shrugged, clumsily defending her refusal by accusing Christians of not being required to edit their Bible either.
If I might cut to the chase, everything, I mean everything I find written by Laura points back to Laura as the central figure as not only on the cutting edge of human evolution but also for the salvation of the human race. The following is a tiny example among dozens I found:
“My [Laura’s] sociological research of the great evolutionary breakpoint demonstrated that a new, blatant, global and premeditated falsification was already in full swing. Paranoid Personality?
The psychopath behind every “Bush” paranoia of Laura is exemplified in her use of the anti-semitic hoax Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion:
“Knowledge is power. Those who control information can control the masses; it's that simple.
“As we researched the subject of the media, we came across The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion. As everyone knows, this is a vicious anti-Semitic hoax. We agree. We do not for a minute think that this represents Judaism or ordinary Jewish people.
“What was shocking for us was our realization that the Protocols is being implemented almost line by line by many of the members of the Bush Administration and the various government 'think-tanks' that formulate their policy. This “bone” that Laura throws to reality about the Protocols is the same bone thrown by many paranoid conspiracy types I’ve come across. Yes, they say it was a hoax not perpetrated by real Jews, but…. Maybe the Illuminati or another occult power is disguised by “Jews”, eh?
Here is one comparison: I met the author of Behold a Pale Horse in 1991 when he was at a book signing at The Ark, a New Age books and gift shop in Santa Fe, New Mexico. (I have the signed copy). Bill Cooper (1943-2001) was on a tour. He lectured at places like the Ramtha School of Enlightenment and any fringe cult or militia movement that might invite him. He wrote about the Protocols in a chapter in his Pale Horse:
“Cooper claimed the document Protocols of Zion was actually an Illuminati work and instructed readers to substitute the word "Sion" for "Zion", "Jews" for "Illuminati", and "Goyim" for "cattle"…”
“Political scientist Michael Barkun characterized Behold a Pale Horse as "among the most complex superconspiracy theories" and also among the most influential, being much read in militia circles as well as widely sold in mainstream bookstore.”
Paranoid Cooper lived a self-fulfilling prophecy and got killed as a result:
“On November 5, 2001 Cooper was fatally shot by a law enforcement officer at his Eagar, Arizonahome after confronting deputies trying to arrest him and shooting one of them in the head. This cavalier dismissal of the Protocols as masking something else, or as useful for defining a US President, is a slur against the Jewish people. This hoax has been and remains instrumental as evidence to persecute Jews among anti-Jewish Arabs and right wing, Christian Identity militia nuts. For Laura to apply the Protocols to “Bush or Rove” she has to lower herself to the same crude social standard as that of the anti-Semitic hoaxers that created the Protocols, thus keeping the evil of these lousy documents alive. This is but one instance among many that point to a serious character flaw in anyone that finds the Protocols useful for any agenda.
Ancient Gnostic cults often viewed the vast majority of mankind as hylics or mud people that cannot be saved, so why bother. And that is at the core of Laura’s elitist Paleo Christianity. Only the enlightened will “see” her clothes, her magnificent weave of penetrating perceptions and personal revelations about hyper reality and Gnosis. Only the enlightened will notice her insights about aliens posing as psychopaths and wreaking havoc among us.

In the last two years, LKJ through the 'Cs' has claimed that her work and presence on earth may be the singular reason that keeps the world from being destroyed*(see below). LKJ also pointed to her studious observations in 2010 about the high incidence of psychopaths in certain nations with Israel having the highest. Laura claims that she smokes cigarettes to keep occulted evil entities from harming her—reminds me of a woman we admitted to the mental hospital where I work, a woman who wrapped aluminum foil around her chest to ward off the evil energy attacking her heart center. The woman was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
There are dozens of neo-Gnostic heralds circling the same drain as Jadczyk, Hubbard, Prophet, Ballard, and Belzebuub (see below)—that do-it-yourself-but-do-it-my-way drain on all your resources to keep from dying and facing the final judgment for our sins or our karmic debts like the rest of us mortal hylics.

CULT: This word has become a firestarter when any group or leader is accused, and the Cassiopaea "cult" is no exception.

This group Cassioipaea.org/Fellowship of the Cosmic Mind qualifies as a controversial organization with cult characteristics using the four criteria in my paper.
Transpersonal attraction: Transcendent experiences and larger than life agendas can exhalt, expand a person as well as induce ecstatic experience. Jadczyk continues to offer a grand agenda of both personal and planetary salvation. Meditation techniques and Internet discussions about transpersonal values and meaning may appear goofy to some but to others become the main attraction in life.
Exclusive leadership: Jadczyk meets this criteria easily as a charismatic and core authority between heaven and earth. She has become a cult object in her own right, the cult of personality, larger than human in the eyes of many core members that believe in her salvific mission and status as most enlightened person on earth.
Circular tension: Devotees and followers by any name that experience the first two criteria will soon fall into a psychological orbit around the core principles with their behavior, thought process, emotional reactions, and time spent attending to group matters. The tighter this orbit, the higher the tension between the outside world and non-members as well as with the leader who can now make more demands. This tension is also from within as the leader must keep members from getting too close to the seat of power and knowledge that remains exlcusively with the leader. Anyone that doubts or challenges this core authority will suffer consequences or be kicked out. This is the razor's edge for the cult member, to be moving around and around getting in deeper in a rut but not able to drift away or get too close to own the source of magetic power.
Exit perils: Once in orbit, the tension is maintained not only by the attraction but also by the perils of even thinking of leaving the group. The fallen world outside is primarily a psychological motif but sometimes physical when cults form in compounds with real walls. The psychological wall is perhaps more powerful as the cult member operates as a deployable agent, no different than one of the World Trade Tower 9/11 terrorist pilots were as they lived seamlessly in American society prior to the attack. Exit costs can be heavy: A cult member must consider losing their immortal soul, their financial investment, close "friends", years and sometimes decades of devotional investment, and adjusting to a previously hostile outside world that hates or ridicules the cult. I have helped many a former cult member that told me it took them years to actually make a break after they decided the group and leader were no longer truthful, loving, real or viable for them. Anxiety, depression, emotinal instability often attend defection--no one just walks away; it is a struggle. Cassiopaea members face dire predictions of doom about the planet, society and economy not to mention otherwordly evil spirits that can harm them without group practice and mindset protection.
The more intense or totalist these four criteria, the more potential for harm in the experience of the cult member that dares to leave the fold. Healthy cult formation has far less tension with the outside world, thus a member can quit without the panic and anxiety. For example, Catholics, Presbyterians, and Jews generally have far less problems drifting in and out of and back into their traditional faiths than does anyone that has had the misfortune of believing in Laura Knight Jadczyk's "experiment" as the cult likes to call its agenda.
